Meet Anna

Anna Guest brings over 10 years experience working in Maine’s non-profit sector, with much of that time spent growing and cultivating dynamic and highly effective teams of volunteers.

Her compassionate and strategic leadership style leverages her innate ability to build rapport and connection through clear, proactive communication, creative problem solving, and a thoughtful and thorough approach.  With her professional training in occupational therapy, Anna brings a process-oriented, client-centered, and compassionate mindset to her work.  A collaborative change agent, Anna has successfully led volunteer teams through challenging and unpredictable times.

With firsthand experience with both the challenges and joys of engaging with volunteers, Anna’s passion lies with collaborating with non-profit organizations to strategically invest in the potential of human kindness and caring while making the most of often limited resources.

A life-long Mainer, Anna grew up on a solar-powered, organic farm: resourcefulness, creativity, authenticity and connection to community are baked into her approach.  She currently lives in Lisbon Falls with her wife and 4-legged family, gardening, DIYing, and volunteering in her community.

Why Rising Tide?

I’ve had the blessing of working with several incredible mentors who have been generous in sharing their wisdom and guidance with me. One of my most dear mentors, Doug Wilson, taught me so much about strategic thinking, group facilitation, building partnerships, but most importantly, through his warmth, humor, generosity and zest for life, he taught me how to be a better human. As we worked together over the years he would often remind me (referencing the famous words of JFK) that “a rising tide raises all boats” - he truly believed and modeled that when we collaborate and lift each other up we can make the world a more beautiful, innovative, connected, and caring place.

My friend Doug passed away unexpectedly in the summer of 2022, but his words and wisdom continue to be a guiding force in my life and work. “Rising Tide” felt like a meaningful way to honor my friend, as well as a beautiful representation of community connection and impact through the power of volunteerism.
